Each year in the Valley Ranch Art Room, we make an effort to complete a project using recycled or used materials. This year, I have some lofty goals for these projects and will need YOUR help to gather supplies.
CDs/DVD/CD-ROMs Remember those things we used to listen to music from? Or when computer programs came on CD-ROM? If you have any of those things laying around your house or garage, the art room will take them off your hands! Plastic 2 Liter bottles: We've got plenty of small water bottles year round, but clear 2 liter bottles also make interesting art projects. 5th Grade Parents: Did you know that soap bars make a great medium for carving? To learn carving, we need to stock up the art room with Ivory Soap bars. Ivory soap bars are soft, easy to carve and inexpensive. Create a piece of art to be featured on the front of the CISD Holiday card!

Turn in your design to Mrs. Brothers by MONDAY, November 10. Write in PENCIL on the Back: Name Class Mrs. Brothers Valley Ranch Elementary Last week, I played a new game with my first graders as an introduction to the artwork of Joan Miro. I don't normally introduce this project with a game, so I was curious as to how it would turn out. Much to my surprise, the pictures were better than I could have ever imagined! I had already promised my first graders they could take their "game" home, and being a woman of my word, I let these beautiful pictures march right out of my classroom.
